Plan Your Visit

Orchard Guidelines

We are so happy to have you at Rock Ridge Orchard! The guidelines and FAQs below are here to help you plan your trip and make the most of your visit. Please remember and respect the fruit and love that grows in our orchard!

Please pick apples in designated areas-

Check-in with our staff in the store before picking apples. Not all of our varieties are ripe at the same time. Please respect areas that are posted as private or roped off. One of our staff members will be happy to direct you to our current picking areas.

You pick it, you pay for it-

Everything you pick must go into your bag. We invite you to enjoy a fresh apple snack while picking and kindly ask you to be mindful about how much you consume to ensure there is enough for everyone. Please watch your children while in the orchard! Help us prevent waste and do not throw or drop apples on the ground.

Respect our Trees-

Be gentle when picking, twisting the apple to remove it instead of pulling. Please do not shake the branches or climb on the trees. If you or a member of your party are found to be damaging the property, you will be asked to leave and pay for the damages.

No Littering-

Help us keep our orchard clean and beautiful. Garbage cans can be found in numerous locations on the front porches and playground area.

No Pets Allowed-

We are growing and preparing food at the orchard, pets are not allowed to walk around the property or go to the bathroom. We love our furry friends too but they do not belong at the orchard. Service animals are permitted to assist guests with disabilities. Emotional support animals are not service animals.

No Smoking-

Smoking and vaping is not permitted anywhere on the Rock Ridge Orchard property.

Please be Respectful of Private Events-

Please do not enter the venue space or back patio area during private events.

Absolutely no Carry-Ins Allowed

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your hours of operation?
We are currently closed for the 2024 apple season. However, we have lots going on in the off-season. Visit our Facebook page by clicking the button below to see what we are up to!
  • Can I pick my own apples?
Yes! We have several U-Pick varieties available for you and your family to pick throughout the season. Not all apples are U-Pick and the available types change as new varieties ripen or rows become picked over. Please check our Facebook for the most up to date information on what is currently available!
  • What varieties of apples do you grow?
We grow 32 different varieties of apples! They are not always all available as they ripen at different times in the season. Check out our Apple Varieties page here to learn more about each type!
  • How much does it cost to pick apples?
We sell our apples in sizes of ~5lbs ( ½ Peck) and ~10lbs (1 Peck). Larger or smaller sizes are/ available for U-Pick for varieties. Prices vary depending on the variety and their availability in our orchard. You only pay for what you pick!
  • Is there an entrance fee?
NO! We welcome all to come to our orchard to enjoy all we offer! Wristbands are available for purchase for children and families who want to play in the playground or take a wagon ride through the orchard!
  • Do you offer any other activities besides apple picking?
We do! During harvest season, we have a children’s playground with a petting zoo as well as an adult playground at the cider bar! Stop in to enjoy local hard ciders on tap, our fresh pressed apple cider, or some homemade pizza.
  • Can I bring pets to the orchard?
We ask that you leave your furry and/or feathered ones at home or in the car while enjoying the orchard. Service dogs are permitted at the orchard to assist visitors with a disability. As we are growing food, service dogs may not “do their business” in the orchard area. All business must be cleaned up by the handler.
  • Are there any food or drink options available on site?
Besides the tasty apples, our store and cider bar are stocked with drinks and snack options for you and your family. Follow your nose to the store and check out our warm bakery options or grab a gallon of our fresh pressed cider! While the kids play, head to the cider bar and try a flight of local hard ciders on tap and order a pizza for lunch!
  • Do you sell cider? What is in it?
We press fresh cider weekly using ONLY APPLES! Try the cider throughout the season to see how new varieties change the color and flavor of the cider. Our cider can be kept in the fridge for about a week or frozen for up to a year! Our cider is not pasteurized so while we maintain strict cleanliness standards, caution is advised for individuals with weakened immune systems.
  • Is the orchard wheelchair accessible?
We maintain wide paths throughout the orchard, so visitors who use wheelchairs are able to adventure, though rainy weather can make travel difficult. Our store building and bathrooms are wheelchair accessible as well.
  • Can I host an event at the orchard?
Yes! We host a variety of private events in our venue space. Please visit our Private Events page to learn more!
  • What happens if it rains on the day I plan to visit?
Our orchard is open rain or shine! Duck under the covered porch or head into the store to stay dry. However, the children’s playground may close in the event of lightning in the area.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, and all major cards. Card transactions are subject to a 3.99% service fee.
  • Can I order from the bakery ahead of time?
Of course! Call us at (715) 370-4083 to reserve your favorite bakery treats for anytime the orchard is open.
  • Can I bring in outside food or drinks?
No. Due to our food safety guidelines as well as our liquor license, all food and drinks must be from our facilities. We have a variety of beverage options, fresh pizza, ice cream, and bakery sweets available!
  • Can I pick any apples I see?
While many apples look red and ripe, each row of trees will ripen at different times. We ask that you only pick apples in the designated rows. There will be signage telling you what rows are open for picking once you get to the orchard.
  • What is the “dust” on the apples?
The white “dust” on the outside of the apple is called the bloom of an apple. The outer cells of the apple will produce this powdery wax to protect the fruit from the sun and water loss. It can be easily buffed off on your shirt to produce a nice shine on your apples!
  • Is professional photography allowed at the orchard?
Families are welcome to take photos while at the orchard but we ask that any photographer who would like to use our space contacts us for permission prior to using it. All couples who book their wedding at Rock Ridge Orchard are welcome to take engagement photos in the orchard, just contact us so we know when to expect you!
  • What the heck are the white nets for?
The white netting that covers up our growing trees is meant to protect our trees from hail! Many orchardists can lose an entire harvest to a single hail storm. This way our apples stay on the trees throughout the growing season and are ready to be picked for you in fall! We keep our trees covered until the fruit is ripe for harvest, so please don't pick underneath!
